Taipingqiao Project
As Shui On Land maiden “city-center master-planned community” project of, Taipingqiao has a total area spanning 52 hectares, and is strategically located in the heart of Shanghai’s Huangpu District. It sits adjacent to the bustling Huaihai Middle Road commercial district with the Huangpi South Road subway station in proximity, and at the intersection of a key elevated road intersection..
In 1996, Shui On Group was granted the development rights for the Taipingqiao project, which involves the rejuvenation of an old-style ‘lilong’ lane house district. In line with our corporate philosophy, we put into practice the development principles of – holistic planning, progressive reconstruction, phased development and overall balance – for this project.
The redevelopment of Taipingqiao represented a break from tradition in the makeover of an old downtown area, which usually involved complete teardowns and rebuilds. Instead, we sought to and successfully preserved the historical Shikumen buildings, carrying out necessary additions and alterations to introduce new and modern multifunctional amenities. In a manner akin to Shanghai’s rapid development into a global metropolis, the historical precinct was injected with a new vibrancy that is able to meet the “work, life, leisure and entertainment” requirements of modern service industry practitioners. The Taipingqiao project comprised of Shanghai Xintiandi, a historical redevelopment zone in the west, premium offices – Corporate Avenue – in the north, luxury residential – Lakeville – in the south, a mixed-use shopping, entertainment and business center in the east, with an artificial lake and greeneries nestled in the midst.
